Convert TTF & OTF fonts for SUMI & Xteink X4

To read CJK text on SUMI:

  1. Download a CJK font like Noto Sans CJK from Google Fonts
  2. Drop the .otf/.ttf file below — character sets are auto-detected!
  3. Generate the .bin file and send to SUMI (or copy to /fonts/ on SD)

How Font Loading Works

SUMI has two font systems that work together:

.bin fonts (CJK & monospace)

Fixed-width bitmap fonts. Place in /fonts/ on SD card.

The reader automatically uses these for any characters not in the built-in font. Perfect for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean text.

.epdfont families (reader fonts)

Variable-width, anti-aliased fonts. Place in /config/fonts/[name]/regular.epdfont

Select "Reader Font (.epdfont)" above to create one. Choose your font in Settings → Reader → Font.

Quick tip: For most users wanting CJK support, just convert a font here, click "Send to SUMI" or drop the .bin file in /fonts/. That's it!
